It Is Good

Mark 14:3-9

At dinner in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, Jesus sat at the table.  A woman brought a flask of costly oil and poured on Jesus’ head. She was loving on Jesus, caring for Him, worshiping Him! Some who were there were indignant about this act. They thought it was wasteful to the point of criticizing her sharply.

BUT JESUS said, “let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me.”

Jesus said what she had done was good! It was good-Think about that! When else did God say those words? In the beginning, God created…saw His creation and said, “it is good.” Now, here we see God as man saying, “it was good.” Who can argue that!? Jesus came to her defense, and later stated this would be told as a memorial to her. What a statement!

When we worship Him, He considers it good. His use of the word good is very intentional and not used lightly. We are not to reward evil for good. Proverbs 17:13.

This is a stern lesson. As we observe our brothers and sisters serving, worshiping our Lord, we should rejoice with them and never criticize! Our opinion of how their actions is not necessary. Their worship should be respected, if not joined, as our Lord is magnified in any way. Let the Lord judge.

Thank you, Jesus, for accepting my worship and calling it good! May You be glorified! There is none like You!

Amen
